Project

The goal of a project is for members to work with other members of member or non-member companies to evaluate IVI’s reference model and demonstrate its superiority and feasibility.

The content and output of a project is basically closed and shared only within the members. The members are obliged to report results of verification of IVI’s reference model or newly obtained reference model to IVI as the output.

Benefits of making a project an IVI project

If a project is applied for as an IVI project, IVI’s public information, content discussed in a working group, information fed back from the members, and advice from the academic members can be incorporated as a feature to be implemented in the management methods and the system.

This avoids the “disconnectedness” (so-called “Galapagosization”) that can sometimes occur when companies proceed with projects independently, and by avoiding duplicate development, costs can be reduced and speed of development can be dramatically increased.

Handling of deliverables (intellectual property)

While the outputs of the working groups are common property of IVI, in the case of projects, the intellectual property obtained from the working groups can be determined independently under a policy of the project members.

NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) or other agreements can be signed when implementing a project and the project members can define where the output belongs.

Project members do not have to be members of IVI, but the project owner must be a regular member of IVI.

Approval of a liaison organization to a project

IVI has a system for registering liaison organizations.

Demonstration experiments, etc. on “Connected Factories” or “Connected Manufacturing” conducted by a liaison organization can be certified as a project of IVI.

Projects of external liaison organizations certified as IVI projects can use Reference Model in the same way as IVI projects, even if their members are not members of IVI.
